| Abstract: | The presence of Physella acuta, a freshwater snail of American origin, in Europe can be traced back to the 17th-early 18th century. Three historical stages of its invasion in Europe and Central Asia have been recognized and discussed. The overall process of invasion can be viewed as a result of synergistic action of environmental and human-mediated vectors of the snail dispersal |
