Abstract: Solid solution formation in the system LaCo1JyIgjO 3-S has been found in the range x= 0-0,1. Electrical conductivity, thermal expansion, IR absorption and oxygen permeability of the ceramic materials were studied. Substituting 10 % of cobalt in the LaCoO3-S phase with magnesium leads to a decrease in the thermal expansion coefficients from 21,9 х10"6 to 20,0 х10"6 K-'. Electrical conductivity of the LaCoo 9Mg0 Os-S solid solution is lower than that of lanthanum cobaltite at temperatures above 600 K, but significantly exceeds the conductivity of the parent compound at 400-550 K. Oxygen permeability of the ceramic samples decreases when magnesium is incorporated into the cobalt sublattice.
