Abstract: Functional state of antioxidant system in liver of rats under conditions of modulated septic shock was studied. Depression of intracellular antiperoxide defense as a result of disbalance in the work of enzymes, generating and destroying H2O2 during endotoxemia was found. At the same time activation of microsomal glutathion. S-transferase, superoxide dismutase and redistribution of cytosolic glutathion S-transferases towards izoenzymes, possessing high peroxide activity was found. It is obvious, that in spite of activation of some intracellular protective mechanisms, liver becomes extremely sensitive to oxidative stress.
