Abstract: The processes going on in SiO2 - GeO2 - Ag+ film systems on air-heating resulting in silver nanoparticles formation were investigated. These nanoparticles were stable to oxidation up to 800 °C. The method of initial SiO2 - GeO2 sol synthesis was shown to cause the mechanism of silver nanoparticles formation and their optical properties.
