Abstract: The decays S1 → μ ± + τ∓ where S1 is a standard-model-like Higgs boson, are investigated in the context of the left-right symmetric model (LRM). It is demonstrated that the main contribution to the decay widths is resulted from diagrams taking into account mixings both in the charged gauge boson sector and in the neutrino sector. The LRM predicts the values of the angles defining these mixings as functions of the vacuum expectation values of the Higgs triplets υL and υR . For determination of these mixing angles the results of the existing experiments, on looking for the additional charged gauge boson W2 and on measuring the electroweak ρ parameter are employed. However, even using the maximum value of the mixing angles one does not manage to get for BR(S1 → τ μ) the upper bound 0.25×10−2 which is arrived by the current experiments. The LRM foretells the branching ratio on two orders of magnitude less than this experimental limit. As a consequence the future experiments with higher precision than at present became a necessity to extract more information about the Higgs boson decays going with the lepton flavor violation.
